Note to Self

I asked people what they wish they could tell their past selves

On August 20, 2018 a group of protesters toppled “Silent Sam”, a confederate monument which stood on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s campus. The statue has been a major source of controversy in recent years, with many groups calling for its removal. Since its toppling, pro-Confederate protesters have staged multiple protests at the former site of the statue.

On January 14, 2019 Chancellor Carol Folt announced the remainder of the Silent Sam statue would be moved from campus due to safety reasons, and in the same e-mail she announced her resignation. Grounds crews arrived at 11 that night to remove the pedestal.
